The Land and Water Conservation Fund was created in 1964 by the US Congress in bi-partisan support for a program that leveraged the generation of revenues from public resources and sought to invest some of those revenues into preserving other public resources - Parks & Open Space for outdoor recreation. A key element of this program is that every site funded by LWCF must be protected and managed for public outdoor recreation "In Perpetuity". There are thousands of LWCF assisted parks throughout NNE. Knowing where these sites are is critical. Too often, park managers are unaware that the LWCF can be used to help meet these long-term stewardship obligations
