Dan MacGlashing, Belgrade Recreation • Register • View Cart •

Born in Massachusetts, raised in York, Maine, Dan was involved in recreation from a young age. Throughout high school and college Dan worked with children in various capacities from the high schools pre-k to running a summer camp for the town of York. After Graduating with a degree in Special Education from the University of Maine at Farmington Dan worked in York as a substitute, a teacher and an ed tech. After a few years in public education the mountains were calling and Dan dropped everything and took a leap that changed the course of his life forever. Since making the decision to be a snowboard instructor for Sugarloaf Ski School, Dan has managed two snowboard programs and coached/instructed hundreds of snowboarders, most recently being the lead snowboard trainer for Sugarloaf mountain. In 2020 Dan moved to Belgrade Maine to be closer to his girlfriend and worked odd jobs until landing the gig as Recreation Director for the Town of Belgrade. In less than two years he increased participation and passed pre covid numbers, not only increasing revenue by 40%, but also garnering the support of the community. Throughout the years Dan has continued his education in child development, snowboarding and program management, and has learned how to translate the stoke from the mountain to the halls of the community center.
