9:00-10:00AM How is AI changing recreation competencies and career preparation?

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how businesses and organizations do their work, including recreation and parks professionals who plan programs, communicate with participants, and manage administrative work. This session explores what this shift means for preparing the next generation of practitioners. After a brief overview of current research on AI in workplaces and higher education, faculty from UNH’s Recreation Management and Policy Department will describe how their curriculum is adapting. Participants will learn from one another by sharing examples of AI use in their own organizations and help draft a working list of AI competencies for emerging professionals. Intended for community recreation professionals at any career stage, particularly those involved in hiring, supervising, or training early-career staff.
