11:30AM-12:30PM A Layered Approach to Recreation Inclusion
This session will explore a multi-layered approach to meeting the needs of a wide range of participant needs. The session will combine traditional learning with small group discussions, case studies, and real-world application of Professor Frye’s inclusion model.
At the end of the session, participants should be able to:
- Identify Universal Design strategies that make programs, spaces, and communication accessible to the widest range of participants before individual needs arise.
- Describe how purposeful intervention builds participant skills that support fuller engagement in recreation.
- Apply the layered model to a real-world scenario to develop an inclusion plan for a program at their own agency.
